Guitar Hero: World Tour Official

by Uros Jojic, 5/22/2008 7:03 AM

We've heard the title mentioned in Activision's financial report earlier, but it's now been made officially-official. The next installment in Activision's hugely popular music game series will be titled Guitar Hero: World Tour, and, while this is still a rumor, World Tour will include not only a redesigned guitar controller, but also an electronic drum kit and a microphone. Other cool new additions planned are the Music Studio music creator, which will allow users to compose, record, edit and share their musical creations, as well as an online band career mode and an eight-player Battle of the Bands mode.

“Guitar Hero has set the standard for music-based gaming and with Guitar Hero: World Tour and the game’s groundbreaking Music Studio, we are once again delivering unprecedented innovation that has the potential to revolutionize consumer generated music, much in the same way that video sharing hubs have driven user generated video,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing for RedOctane.

Welch added, “With the introduction of our advanced high-quality new wireless instruments, in-depth customization options and advanced online functionality, the game enables music fans and gamers globally to share in the most social and expressive music experience ever.”
