0:32 My Vital Suit and I somehow stagger out into the snow, weakened from the battle, but alive because of dad's sacrifice. Blizzard conditions and more lightening. "LOST PLANET" appears in big letters on the screen, just in case you forgot the title.
0:33 A blurry view of the ceiling from a first-person point-of-view. I have a glowing tube attached to my arm. "You're full of surprises," say a medical guy standing nearby. He tells me the device is absorbing thermal energy for my body. "The thermal energy and your arm will be our little secret. It's complicated." How about you just explain it to me then, huh? Luka and Rick come join medical guy Yuri in the room. They found me frozen inside the Vital Suit. I remember the battle and my name (Wayne), but nothing else."It might just be temporary amnesia," says Yuri.
0:34 Two weeks later. I'm working a wrench over a bomb canister or something. "It looks like you're starting to get used to life here," says Luka in my headset. "I don't know about that," I reply.
0:35 The whole team is inside, planning a path to a "destination." But there are Akrid in the way, of course. "If only one of us could pilot a V.S," says Yuri. "I can," says Wayne. Everyone acts surprised, but I don't know why -- they did find me in a Vital Suit two weeks ago.
0:36 Mission 01: Make your way past ruins and into the hive. Navigate around obstacles, yada yada yada. Let's GO, already!
0:37 "Wayne, you should be able to use that V.S. At least it beats walking," Yuri says in my ear. Maybe, but it's a lot slower.
0:39 Some headcrab-style enemies dance around me, opening and closing their mouths repeatedly rather than attacking. They're easy enough to destroy with the Gatling gun. I'm getting low on ammo already, though. Here's hoping there's some Gatling gun ammo lying around this deserted snowscape.
0:40 Next up, a praying mantis with a glowing red underside. It can take a few more hits, but it shatters in an icy explosion relatively easily. I'm starting to get annoyed by the persistent snow that clouds my vision.
0:41 I have to get out of the Vital Suit to go inside an abandoned car garage. Luckily, someone left a bunch of exploding barrels of gas around, so I can blow up a bunch of enemies at once. The orange explosion is very impressive-looking.
0:43 I'm loving the hand grenades. They're like portable barrels full of oil. Boom!
0:44 Finally taken out all the hives and the scrub enemies in the garage. These Akrid mainly seem to stand around and wait for me to blast them. I was expecting more aggression.
0:45 I find a rocket launcher in the snow. It generates some more beautiful explosions, but it takes forever to reload.
0:46 A larger praying mantis appear in a nearby warehouse. "Use the warehouse to tilt the battle in your favor," says a voice in my ear. Whatever. I just aim for the glowing red section on its belly and he goes down pretty quickly. Maybe I should have chosen "Hard."
0:47 After the fact, I find some I-beams hanging from the ceiling that I can knock down. I suppose I could have dropped these on Mr. Mantis Man. Oh, well.
